Earth Day 2022
Join this year’s efforts to create a clean, healthy planet for future generations.
What is Earth Day?
Earth Day is a global event that promotes clean living, with a focus on creating a healthy environment for everyone inhabiting the planet. The mission of Earth Day is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Together, we can prevent harm to the planet, limit any further environmental impacts and re-establish a harmonious balance between nature and people.
Investing in our planet
Whether you use your voice, wallet, or platform to make your opinion heard this year we are urged to act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably) to protect our planet whilst building a green, prosperous future.
How we are getting involved
Join Ecologi this week and they’ll plant 100 extra trees for everyone who signs up.
As continued members of the WWF 2030 Circle and supporting the Trillion Trees programme we’re dedicated to restoring the natural habitats and ecosystems that have been lost over the last several decades due to human intrusion and destruction. Trillion Trees is a joint venture of three of the world’s largest conservation organisations – WWF, BirdLife International and the Wildlife Conservation Society. The campaign has ambitious, yet necessary, targets to re-grow, save and better protect one trillion trees across the globe by 2050. The 2030 Circle aims to re-establish the right trees in the right places to conserve biodiversity, sustain ecosystems, capture enough carbon to tackle climate change, and lift people out of poverty and food insecurity.
How you can get involved...
Whether it’s a big group event, a solo clean-up, or making small changes at home, you can get involved anywhere.
Asses your carbon footprint. Growing your own produce is an easy, and tasty, way to lower your carbon footprint. This allows you to grow only what you will eat, reducing both food and plastic waste. Another simple way to care for the planet through food, is opting for plant based, vegan options when eating out which are often cooked with fresh, vibrant ingredients.
Minimise plastic usage. Opting for reusable items, such as bags and water bottles, will help minimise landfill. However, the most sustainable option will always be the option you already own – so don’t feel guilty for owning a plastic carrier bag already, as long as you use it until the end of its lifetime.
