Tom Raffield Lighting - Summer 2022
Experts in designing and handcrafting sustainable wooden lighting, Tom Raffield expands their range of wooden lighting this summer…
Synonymous with nature, each design in Tom Raffield's modern, curvilinear homeware range is hand-shaped using sustainable wood into striking wooden works of art using a pioneering and ecological form of steam bending.
"Never before was something more elegant… and as always, sustainably made and fit for practical use"
- Tom Raffield, Co-founder and Designer.
Making sustainable living beautiful and crafted for a lifetime of happiness, Tom Raffield designs only use high quality, sustainable materials to ensure they’re seen in homes for decades – an iconic piece never goes out of style. Set to be new bestsellers, Tom’s latest lighting collection offers exciting ways to illuminate homes and allow nature’s forms to enhance any interior.
Launching 24th June 2022, the Tilow Lighting Range and Kanna Drum Pendant are set to create a brighter, and bolder summer.
Kanna Drum Pendant
Rooted in minimalism, the Kanna Drum Pendant radiates warmth, whilst allowing the distinctive fingerprint found in this natural material to shine. Inspired by the precision hand tool used in Japanese woodworking, the Kanna design celebrates the strength and delicacy of sustainably sourced wood.
Diffusing a warm glow into its surroundings, the elegant tier of sustainably sourced oak or walnut gently cocoons the bulb, allowing the organic wooden grain to take centre stage. The plywood inner structure supports the skilfully simple layer of timber, secured with brass screws to create a soft pool of downlight, all whilst showcasing the endless inspiration Tom finds in his surrounding woodlands.
Available in sustainably sourced oak or walnut.
Tilow Lighting Range
Representing the first strong branch that is born from a mighty oak tree, the Tilow Lighting Range allows nature’s forms to enhance any interior’s personality. The big sister to their Hanter Wall Light, the new design encourages versatility, with each design either suspending an elegant exposed bulb, or a selection of Tom Raffield’s iconic lampshades.
The Tilow’s striking, branching form brings comfort and style to interiors everywhere. Available in two sizes, the skilfully steam bent design will divide and balance interiors with ease as it illuminates with a warm, welcoming glow.
Renter friendly lighting. The Tilow Lighting Range is a plug-in and go design, allowing those who rent to create a Tom Raffield impact in their home, without having to interfere with wiring.
Tilow Wall Light
Suspending either an exposed bulb, or one of Tom’s iconic wooden shades at the perfect height, the Tilow Wall Light is perfect for smaller spaces in need of enhanced lighting.
Tom has built on the success of his previous Hanter Wall Light with it's classic arching form that can tailored to suit any interior. From modern minimalism, to bold maximalism, the Tilow Wall Light offers a design to suit.
The Tilow Wall Light can home:
- Verso Small Pendant

About Tom Raffield
Our purpose is to create new ways of living with our original, timeless objects that are inspired by the natural world that surrounds us here in Cornwall. Our artisan homeware designs are handcrafted by our skilled team to last a lifetime using traditional craft processes in sustainable and innovative ways. We aim to transform spaces and leave a lasting impact without having an impact on the very thing that drives us - nature. We are the antidote to over consumption and hope to inspire a like-minded conscious community, helping to create a world where people and nature thrive for future generations to enjoy.
Since discovering the traditional, age-old technique of steam bending wood whilst studying his degree in 3D Sustainability & Design, Tom has been on an incredible self-taught journey of developing and understanding the process to become one of the world leaders in his craft. Tom’s fascination with the ecological technique allows him to create intricate curves and twists, mimicking organic shapes and celebrating the very thing that inspires him - nature.
Tom Raffield is one of a new generation of designers and makers, using his craft in innovative and contemporary ways. Leading the charge in sustainable design, he is driven to forge a path to excellence and cause as little environmental impact as possible along the way.
His passion and skill are now shared with his talented team of craftspeople, together they create objects that symbolise nature, tell a story and will last a lifetime, all whilst protecting the natural world.
“Each piece we create has been on an experimental journey - individual, organic and carefully considered. We source everything from sustainable woodlands, which, coupled with the low energy steam bending process, is a very ecological practice with little wastage,” explains Tom Raffield, founder.
Handcrafted in their BREEAM Excellent studios in Cornwall, England, the range of contemporary lighting, furniture and accessories Tom Raffield creates is based on beauty, integrity and a desire to create unique, high specification objects that will be cherished by their owners for years to come.
