Stationed at the playground in Hyde Park, this steam bent kiosk makes for the perfect spot to enjoy a Colicci coffee or ice cream.
Designed by architectural practice Mizzi Studio , the family of nine Colicci Coffee kiosks now reside in prominent locations around London’s Royal Parks including Hyde Park, Green Park and St James’s Park. The collaborative project won an award at Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in the fast casual category 2019.
The flagship Horse Shoe Bend kiosk in St James’s Park, in view of Buckingham Palace, is clad in tubular brass and mirrors the ornate precious metals that adorn Sir Thomas Brock’s Queen Victoria Memorial, while the choice of timber cladding for the rest of the family of kiosks rests on the relationship with the park environment.
High quality materials have been used throughout the kiosk designs, from sustainable, steam bent solid oak to oxidised copper, new copper, stainless steel and brass.
Mizzi Studio’s holistic approach to the design also takes into careful consideration the use of space, energy efficiency and practicalities such as waste disposal. A rear entrance leaves the sides of the kiosk available for subtle and efficient service features including integrated bins and condiment holders.
The design of each kiosk has been tailored to the history and nuances of their respective site to create new visitor experiences and make a refreshment stop an integral part of a journey through the parks.
The kiosks are conceived as a family of individual forms that are united in their design language, with a 360-degree sculptural canopy that swells out like a tree’s crown creating a recognisable silhouette.

Speakers' Corner, the location of one of Colicci's new steam bent kiosks, is a traditional site for public speeches and debates since the mid 1800's when protests and demonstrations took place in Hyde Park.
The kiosks, which will be run by the Colicci family catering business, will serve 'single origin' speciality coffee from sustainable plantations in Brazil and Guatemala.
