Grand Designs Home: Autumnal Updates
If you go down to the woods today... you're in for a nice surprise. There's been some autumnal updates to the decor and layout of Tom's Grand Designs home; cosy armchairs, statement lighting and seasonal colours that reflect the changing hues of the Cornish valley outside.
With mid-October in full swing and the darker mornings and evenings starting to set in, we're embracing Autumn and its annual, seasonal changes. As nature presents an eclectic new palette of warm reds, yellows, oranges and browns, we re-discover inspiration in the outdoors. This usually leads to a few autumnal changes around our homes, and Tom Raffield’s Grand Designs home is no different.
The Hallway
Stepping through the front door, we are greeted by a flurry of autumn leaves, which cascade down the staircase in the form of our Giant Flock Chandelier. Likened to browning leaves which fall to carpet woodland floors at this time of year, our Giant Flock Chandelier is a true statement piece.
The beauty of handcrafting our lighting pieces means that our Giant Flock Chandelier can be customised to a range of sizes and lengths to suit your space. Find out more about our bespoke chandeliers here.
The Dining Room
An expansive, open plan space where Cornish granite and solid timber meet to create a modern yet classic aesthetic. Our brand new Drift Pendants, part of our Comber Lighting Range, provide warm downward lighting whilst shades of ash and walnut reflect the autumnal hues found in the nearby woodland. Our playful Arame Pendant Small provides geometric intrigue and the exquisite curve of our Hanter Table Light offers accent lighting.
the bedroom
As the autumn weather brings wetter, windier and cooler conditions, we like to create a cosy retreat. Oak panelled walls evoke the warmth and intimacy of a Nordic ski lodge. Our Drift and Keel Pendants cast beguiling shadows on the walls, adding extra ambience.
In another bedroom, our brand new Keel Pendants evoke the romance and drama of Cornish shores. A Drift Pendant in the master bedroom provides warm downward lighting and casts swooping shadows when dimmed.
the bathroom
Stepping into the bathroom, we are greeted by a rich array of wooden textures, colours and grains. An Urchin Pendant brings out the nuances in the wood-panelled walls and floor, and creates the ultimate space to relax in the tub when dimmed. The surprising twist of our Coat Loop also offers a charming storage solution.
The green space
Moving from the old Gamekeeper’s Lodge to the newer part of the house, we pass through a glass-walled corridor that links the two. This space has recently been transformed into a celebration of biophilic design. Clusters of our Morvah Hanging Planters provide a deluge of greenery, breathing life and giving meaning to this transitional space.
