Tom’s Favourite Cornish Spots
Whether you are an expert sight seeker or a sandcastle extraordinaire, Cornwall offers a range of outdoor adventures. Whilst it is a tricky task to narrow it down to just five, read on to discover Tom Raffield’s top places around Cornwall to enjoy this summer…
Helford River
Heading south from our Falmouth studio, the Helford Estuary offers a beautiful range of landscapes to enjoy. Whether you want to pop on your swimming costume and enjoy some water sports, explore the surrounding woodlands, or enjoy a classic pub lunch with loved ones, the Helford offers all pastimes. With Trebah and Durgan Gardens just up the road, this area of Cornwall is perfect for those seeking a full day of exploration.
Prussia Cove
Tucked away in Rosudgeon, Prussia Cove is one of Cornwall’s many hidden gems. Surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty, Prussia Cove’s natural forms provide endless inspiration for Tom. A small, and quiet location to enjoy a picnic with someone special, this idyllic cove is not forgotten easily.
Coverack
On the Eastern coast of the Lizard, Coverack’s charming landscape captures Cornish beauty effortlessly. Steeped in maritime history and with breath-taking coastal paths, Coverack is perfect for family days out – even the dog will be warmly welcomed. The sparkling waters at the heart of this fishing village paired with the laid-back community, unsurprisingly makes it a favourite for Tom and the team.
Poldhu Cove
Across the West of the Lizard is another favourite – Poldhu. Perfect for keen surfers, Poldhu’s sandy beach is great for riding the waves or watching from the shore. Sightseers amongst the group will wonder at the endless views provided by the coastal paths, with the cliff faces being a beautiful source of inspiration for Tom. There’s also a great café for a hot chocolate or ice cream!
Mousehole
After a stroll through historic Penzance, head west towards Mousehole. Retaining its old-world charm, Mousehole’s narrow streets are filled with small shops, galleries, and cafes. This picturesque town showcases Cornwall’s personality in an instant, with quaint fisherman’s cottages huddled around the harbour and a small beach to enjoy. Mousehole is best enjoyed on foot as the village has very tight roads not suitable for modern cars.
If you pop into The Old Coastguard for a bite to eat, you might spot some Tom Raffield lighting designs.
