About the Role
To support the Director of Finance and HR in the smooth running of the Finance and HR department including preparation of the management accounts, statutory accounts and additional statutory reporting requirements on a timely and accurate basis. To help implement suitable controls within the finance department and liaise with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient processing within the finance department. To assist in Human Resources administrative tasks and advise on changes to legislation within HR management.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Finance
- Prepare and post all month end journals such as prepayments, accruals, stock journals and payroll journal.
- Produce monthly management accounts pack including commentary and analysis.
- Produce weekly sales reports and monthly margin reports.
- Seek and make use of specialist financial reports as required.
- Work in a proactive way to suggest areas for improvement for the growing company and finance department.
- Present timely and accurate financial reports as required.
- Post and check sales ledger invoices, managing and reconciling retail customer accounts such as John Lewis and Heals.
- Deal with any sales ledger queries.
- Manage credit control for all major customers.
- Prepare Payroll for DOF review.
- Complete the VAT return.
- Statistical reporting.
- Review stock accuracy and part take in stock counts and reconciliations.
- Coordinate annual financial returns with company accountants.
- Assist in completion of funding applications.
- Prepare Year End reconciliations and collate all information required by Auditors for Year End.
- Assist with any other ad hoc financial tasks as required.
Human Resources
- Review and maintain all HR administrative tasks, within the HR and People management file.
- Review and inform the Director of Finance and HR of any legislative updates. This includes any policies, contracts, H&S, or other employment legislative updates.
- Maintaining payroll and HR systems.
- Produce monthly reporting against KPIs.
- Maintain the onboarding administrative tasks, ensuring that line managers stay compliant with UK Government legislation.
- Assess line managers' administrative tasks, identify any learning gaps and guide them through the correct process through effective coaching and mentoring.
About You
Key attributes
- Candidates may be part/fully professionally qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA), or qualified by experience/AAT, but must possess excellent all round IT aptitude (particularly MS Excel).
- Be a confident person with a professional and personable character.
- Have excellent numeracy, literacy and IT skills especially MS Excel.
- Be able to communicate clearly, concisely, verbally and in writing.
- Be hardworking, committed and interested in the challenge of working for an exciting young business going through rapid growth.
- Demonstrate both independence and team work.
- Show initiative whilst working independently.
- Be supportive of other team members.
